I think that if J.K. had tied DH up this nicely, there would be a lot less fan fiction. Because there would have been less left to the imagination.
Author's Response: Thanks for reading. I agree with you in the sense that Rowling gave fan-fiction writers plenty of opportunity to write about the series. It's one of the reasons why I find the Marauder era (the years of Lily and James Potter's lives) so intriguing.

I like to think that Dudley had changed a little after he said that he didn't think Harry was a waste of space. But your take is such a possibility of what happened to him; and Vernon not being able to live with it, also works.
But that is what makes the fan fiction so interesting. The authors (I am not one) have different takes on how the characters turn out.
